Numerose sono le testimonianze romane sparse nel territorio. Nel 958 questo fundus faceva parte dei possedimenti dell&#8217;Abbazia di Subiaco e nel 997 fu incastellato. Nel XIII secolo appartiene ai Conti di Poli e poi, per matrimonio, pass\u00f2 a Federico d&#8217;Antiochia. Dal figlio Corrado il paese prese il secondo nome. Nella prima met\u00e0 del XV secolo, il feudo pass\u00f2 ai Colonna che nel 1627 e poi ad altre casate romane. Dalla met\u00e0 dell&#8217;Ottocento, numerosi scultori, pittori e poeti iniziarono a frequentare il paese e favorirono lo svilupparsi di un nuovo mestiere da praticare anche a Roma, quello di modello\/a.
